we are one

first and foremost we the women of clothesline would like to thank each and everyone of you who came out to laura's house to support us and spend time with us this past weekend. friday and saturday we had fantastic weather so it was an absolute pleasure for our friends and families to come out, and they did. we appreciate all of you.

i think for the eleven of us artists it was an opportunity to get to know one another better, to rekindle old relationships, to fellowship with each other and those in the community who stopped by to say hi, browse or buy our art. i don't think i could have imagined what it was going to turn out to be like, but it was really amazing.

if you came out you would have noticed how much art there was, how much these women have created. you would've seen the variety and the low prices, all of which was intentional. from the very beginning it was very important to us that we make ourselves and our art very accessible to the community. jennifer kring puts in nicely over at cornflower blue, "This weekend just reinforced over and over again that this is the kind of environment in which art was meant to be viewed. I just think that people need to see art living with people...they need to be in a comfortable place... a place where conversation isn't stifled and they can meet artists and be themselves.Perhaps the gallery scene is just not always the right fit for every artist...or every viewer, for that matter. I know that the older I become the more weary I become of going through those motions. And perhaps I should take note b/c my sales this weekend were grrreat! Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting us!"

if you'd like to continue this conversation or have any questions, items of concern or would actually like to see a specific artist work please feel free to leave a comment or write us @ ourclothesline@gmail[dot]com. we are really excited about the future of ourclothesline. we have a possible fall/winter show and we'd like your feedback. we will of course keep you updated on the artists and their works in progress or you can find them at their own websites via the sidebar. thank you so much.

Hi Ladies,
I am so excited that you are planning another show. We love the pieces we bought at the last show. You all are so talented.
Your clothesline show reminds me of the old Plum Nelly on the backside of Lookout Mountain. I think some of the best artists are found in these outside of the galleries.
I look forward with anticipation :)
